Towards a Hydro-Geopolitical Approach to Iraqi Water Securityى
Abstract
Water resources are considered an essential element for any comprehensive and sustainable economic development in Iraq, so Iraqi water security is considered the main pillar for achieving Iraqi food security and thus Iraqi national security, so it was necessary to develop strategic and permanent plans to protect water resources in Iraq away from the political and economic aspects and thus the search for optimal investment and integrated management of water resources in Iraq.
Therefore, the research will address the issue of Iraqi water security and the challenges it faces in its three dimensions
- The natural (hydrological) dimension
- The planning dimension (integrated management)
- The regional dimension (geopolitical)
and thus develop solutions and remedies for these challenges in order to achieve Iraqi water security and thus achieve Iraqi food security that contributes to the realization of Iraqi national security.
