Theological Dialogue in Pre-Islamic Iraq Christianity and Zoroastrianism as a Case Study
Abstract
discusses the nature of theological events in Iraq during the Sasanian era, between Zoroastrianism, which was the official religion of the ruling power, and Christianity, which was the patron religion of the country. The research issues revolve around the nature of Sasanian policy towards Christians and their position towards the ruling power. Were there international influences that determined the nature of the relationship? It can be said that the relationship fluctuated between tolerance and persecution, depending on the religious activities of Christians within the country. A series of religious dialogues also took place concerning the attributes of the gods, methods of worship, the Day of Resurrection, and other related topics. The research is divided into two sections, the first of which is Sasanian politics. The first study examines the relationship between Christian existence and persecution, while the second explores the philosophy of interfaith dialogue between Zoroastrianism and Christianity, discussing several issues, including those related to worship and others with an administrative dimension
