Geography Analysis of the Dialectic of place and social interaction : Acase Study of Al-Adhamiyah
Abstract
Highlighting the importance of place in social interactions with individuals and creating social relationships، and classifying the types of predominant interactions that embrace the streets of Al-A'dhamiyah city (social، economic، recreational)، giving an image of the spatial variations in the intensity of social interactions at the level of the city's streets، and providing an explanation of the relationship between place and individuals and the intensity of interaction، Several approaches were adopted to suit the study، including the descriptive approach in describing the phenomenon addressed in the research، which is the social use of space in the study area and analyzing its dimensions، and the analytical approach in analyzing social interaction and linking it spatially using the Arc GIS 10 program، Quantitative and statistical methods are used to analyze the questionnaire results through tables، percentages، and mathematical equations، such as the average survival rate، average frequency، interaction intensity scale، and the adjacent spatial activity scale، I reached the most important results: Social interactions varied in the city of Al-A'dhamiyah، and economic interaction is dominant in each of Seham Street، Al-Mashateel، 20، and Omar bin Abdul Aziz، as a result of the dominant commercial and service activities in them ، The analysis results showed that visitors to the city of Adhamiyah use the place for recreational interaction، which is a temporary interaction that occurs on occasions، holidays، and weekends، as it is a secondary need. This interaction is used to relax، While residents use the place for economic and social interaction، which is a permanent and repeated interaction resulting from their daily needs، this reflects a clear picture of the dialectic of the relationship between place and society، Seham and Al-Masateel Streets recorded the least interaction intensity because they are commercial and lack spatial elements that encourage continuous visits or longer stays.
