Abstract

The current research aimed to identify nomophobia among university students, examine metacognition among university students, and explore the correlational relationship between nomophobia and metacognition among university students. The research was conducted on a sample consisting of (250) college students from the College of Arts at the University of Al-Qadisiyah. The sample was selected using the stratified random sampling method across the college's five departments. To achieve the objectives of this research, the Nomophobia Scale by (Manook & Salman, 2022) was adopted, consisting of (35) items in its final version. Additionally, the Metacognitive Questionnaire by (Wells, 2010), which was Arabized by (Al-Ajmi, 2021) and consisted of (30) items in its final version, was also adopted. The psychometric properties of both instruments were verified using the necessary statistical methods. The research findings revealed that university students possess a high level of nomophobia and a high level of metacognition. Furthermore, a positive correlational relationship was found between nomophobia and metacognition, including its sub-dimensions. The research concluded with a set of recommendations and suggestions.
