Abstract
In this research, the tourism development potential enjoyed by Al-Qadisiyah Governorate and its impact on its development was studied by identifying the most important tourist attractions and adopting a strategy for investing and developing them. Therefore, the research concentrated on presenting these potentials and their spatial distribution. It became clear that Al-Qadisiyah Governorate possesses tourism potential represented by religious, archaeological and entertainment sites, which is not invested and needs to be used for tourism through the establishment of tourist development regions according to the principle of priority in the administrative units available in them (Primary, secondary and local). In this context, there are different tourist potentials in the center of Afak District, Nefar district like Nefer Antiques, and Hor al-Dalmaj, which are characterized by the potential for tourist attraction, which contributes to the emergence of a major tourist development region. While secondary development regions could emerge in Daghara district and the center of the Hamza district. As for the local development regions, they appear in the Shafi’iyya district and the center of the district. Diwaniyah District, also, provides tourism development potential in specific areas.
